Hair Transplant Before & After

2 Years Post-Op

Paul’s case was unique and we knew that one surgery would not be enough to get him to where he wanted to be. From step one he trusted the process and diligently followed the plan. Two surgeries later and here we are. Paul’s frontal hairline is completely transformed and has afforded him a more youthful look. We also added a healthy amount of density at the crown and midzone to help give a more full appearance. As you can see, he’s enjoying his new hair and has grown it out to a beautiful length. Surgery #1 – 1,608 grafts Surgery #2 – 2,719 grafts Photos like this make our whole team smile. Thank you for allowing us to share it, Paul.

The crown is the second most common area we restore with hair transplant surgery. While you may be able to hide the top of your head more easily with a hat or naturally with height, inevitably it’s going to show.

At The Sharma Clinic, we don’t like hats. Instead, we choose to tackle the problem head-on instead of hiding it. This young man is 6 months post-transplant and he is well on his way to an amazing final result. The new hair will reach full maturity at the 18-month mark, so he has an entire year of growth and density to look forward to. Hopefully, by then he is feeling confident enough to take his collection of hats and toss them into the bin.

This gentleman came to our clinic hoping to get back his youthful appearance by addressing his fairly severe hair loss. Focusing on the frontal hairline and crown we placed over 3,000 grafts to achieve this impactful result. Over half of the grafts were focused along the frontal hairline with a smaller portion placed at the crown (better visible in the third photo). For this procedure we did not place any grafts into the midzone, found between the frontal hairline and very top of the head. One reason for this was to save a majority of the grafts for the most visible section located at the front.

You may notice that the density behind the hairline is a bit lacking. This was a calculated decision and due to Dr. Sharma’s harvesting technique we still have plenty of viable grafts should this man desire a second transplant to restore an even larger area of hair. The after photos were taken 7 months after his hair transplant and are showing roughly 65% of the final result in terms of density and growth. Over the next year he will see the hair begin to thicken, and even new hairs sprouting to help give greater density to the recipient area. In all, this is a massive success and goes to show that using a high number of grafts is essential to obtaining dramatic results. For those hoping to achieve similar hair restoration progress please note – if only 1,500 or 2,00 grafts are used for a case like his, the result would reflect that decision.

This patient came to us after her first hair transplant at another clinic yielded unsatisfactory results. The first procedure used the F.U.T. technique which left her with a low amount of hair density even when grown out. After careful consideration and discussion with this patient, we decided to proceed with a revision surgery. Using the F.U.E. microsurgery technique we transplanted just under 2,000 grafts to the frontal hairline and midzone. 6 months later and Laura’s hair has started to fill in very nicely.

Laura is an avid swimmer and noted how sparse her hair looks while wet. We hope she can get back into the pool with more confidence than ever.

Spencer came in looking for a solution to his premature hair loss and Doctor Sharma knew exactly what to do. After a single consultation we knew that approximately 2,800 grafts would give him the results he was looking for. One year later and Spencer is looking better than ever! These photos really speak for themselves.

Number of Grafts: 2000+
24 Months Post-Op

Results like this speak volumes about the amazing possibilities of the F.U.E. procedure. This very gentle and kind man wanted to treat himself after his two children completed college. He saved up for almost a full year for the procedure and absolutely loved his results. This results took 2 seperate procedures to achieve. The first procedure required 1,500 grafts and he returned for a second surgery 1 year later for a top up and some additional grafts.

Brazilian Butt Lift

What is a Brazilian butt lift?

A Brazilian butt lift is a specialized fat transfer procedure that augments the size and shape of the buttocks without implants. Excess fat is removed from the hips, abdomen, lower back, or thighs with liposuction, and a portion of this fat is then strategically injected into the buttocks.

A skilled cosmetic surgeon can improve the proportions of the entire lower body with Brazilian butt lift surgery, helping a patient loose fat in common “problem areas” and enhance the buttocks, with results lasting many years.

Why have a Brazilian butt lift?

The shape and proportion of a person’s buttocks are largely determined by genetics; both your skeletal structure and how your body stores fat influence the appearance of the lower body. A healthy diet and exercise can work to achieve a healthy body weight and tone the muscles, but many patients remain unhappy with a “flat” buttocks that lacks shape, despite a healthy lifestyle.

Brazilian butt lift surgery can help overcome the effects of genetics by reshaping the buttocks and surrounding areas, such as the hips, lower back, and thighs. You might consider a Brazilian butt lift to:

  • Enhance the curves of your lower body
  • Reduce fat pockets on your hips, thighs or belly while adding fullness to the buttocks
  • Help clothing fit more attractively
  • Give a more youthful, aesthetically pleasing shape to flat buttocks
  • Enhance your overall proportions by improving balance between your upper and lower body

Am I a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift?

A Brazilian butt lift can be a great option to improve the shape and size of the buttocks; however, certain patients are better suited to the procedure, and it is important to have realistic expectations about the surgery, recovery, and results. In general, you are likely a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift if you agree with the following:

  • You want a buttock augmentation without implants
  • You have good skin tone in the hips and buttocks
  • You have adequate fat stores in other areas to harvest for injection into the buttocks
  • You are willing and able to avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for several weeks

Despite its name, a Brazilian butt lift is not a traditional “lifting” procedure—it does not address loose skin on the buttocks. If you are bothered by excess, sagging skin on the buttocks or thighs, thigh & buttock lift surgery may be a more suitable option.

Brazilian butt lift vs. buttock implants

One significant advantage of Brazilian butt lift surgery is that it increases buttock size without implants. In the hands of a specially trained cosmetic surgeon who operates in an accredited facility, the procedure has a low risk for complications and can achieve remarkably natural looking and feeling results.

However, if you are very lean, you may not have enough fat to harvest, and buttock implants may be the only way to achieve your desired size increase. Buttock implants may be a good option for some patients; however, it is important to understand the added risks of having implants, including capsular contracture and a higher risk for infection. Buttock implants can also look and feel less natural compared to a skillfully performed Brazilian butt lift.

gynecomastia-1135x540-1.png?fit=1000%2C941

Gynecomastia

What is gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia is a condition of over-developed or enlarged breasts in men that can occur at any age. The condition can be the result of hormonal changes, heredity, obesity, or the use of certain drugs.

Gynecomastia can cause emotional discomfort and impair your self confidence. Some men may even avoid certain physical activities and intimacy simply to hide their condition.

Gynecomastia is characterized by:

  • Excess localized fat
  • Excess glandular tissue development
  • Sometimes excess breast skin
  • Presence unilaterally (one breast) or bilaterally (both breasts)

Male Breast Reduction Surgery

Gynecomastia surgery reduces breast size, flattening and enhancing the chest contours.

In severe cases of gynecomastia, the weight of excess breast tissue may cause the breasts to sag and stretch the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple). In these cases the position and size of the areola can be surgically improved and excess skin may be reduced.

Plastic surgery to correct gynecomastia is technically called reduction mammaplasty.

Gynecomastia surgery candidates include:

  • Men whose condition cannot be corrected through alternative medical treatments
  • Healthy individuals who do not have a life-threatening illness or medical conditions that can impair healing
  • Non-smokers and non-drug users
  • Men with a positive outlook and specific goals in mind for improving the physical symptoms of gynecomastia
  • Men who are physically healthy and of relatively normal weight
  • Men who have realistic expectations
  • Men whose breast development has stabilized
  • Men who are bothered by the feeling that their breasts are too large

Adolescents may benefit from surgery, although secondary procedures may be needed in the future should breast development continue.

Gynecomastia surgery procedure steps

A gynecomastia procedure includes the following steps:

Anesthesia -Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedures. The options include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best option for you.

Liposuction technique – In cases where gynecomastia is primarily the result of excess fatty tissue, liposuction techniques alone may be used. This requires insertion of a cannula, a thin hollow tube, through several small incisions.

The cannula is moved back and forth in a controlled motion to loosen the excess fat, which is then removed from the body by vacuum suction.

There are various liposuction techniques that may be used; the technique most appropriate in your case will be defined prior to your procedure.

Excision technique – Excision techniques are recommended where glandular breast tissue or excess skin must be removed to correct gynecomastia. Excision also is necessary if the areola will be reduced or the nipple will be repositioned to a more natural male contour. Incision patterns vary depending on the specific conditions and surgical preference.

Combination of liposuction & excision techniques – Sometimes gynecomastia is treated with both liposuction and excision.

Gynecomastia surgery recovery

During your gynecomastia surgery recovery period, dressings or bandages will be applied to your incisions and an elastic bandage or support garment may be used to minimize swelling and support your new chest contour as it heals after surgery.

A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect.

You will be given specific instructions that may include how to care for the surgical site and drains, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection, specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health, and when to follow up with your plastic surgeon.

Be sure to ask your plastic surgeon specific questions about what you can expect during your individual recovery period.

Where will I be taken after my surgery is complete?

What medication will I be given or prescribed after surgery?

Will I have dressings/bandages after surgery? When will they be removed?

Are stitches removed? When?

When can I resume normal activity and exercise?

When do I return for follow-up care?

It’s very important to follow your plastic surgeon’s instructions and attend follow-up visits as scheduled.

The final results of gynecomastia surgery are permanent in many cases. However, if gynecomastia resulted from the use of certain prescription medications, drugs (including steroids), or weight gain you must be fully free from these substances and remain at a stable weight in order to maintain your results.

Please discuss this with your physician before making changes to your prescription medications.

Recovering from gynecomastia surgery at home

If you experience shortness of breath, chest pains, or unusual heart beats, seek medical attention immediately. Should any of these complications occur, you may require hospitalization and additional treatment. Following your physician’s instructions is essential to the success of your surgery.

It’s important that the surgical incisions are not subjected to excessive force, swelling, abrasion, or motion during the time of healing. Your doctor will give you specific instructions on how to care for yourself.

Lip Enhancement

Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that can give you fuller, plumper lips.

  • These days, an injectable dermal filler is the most commonly used method of lip augmentation.
  • There are many types of dermal fillers that can be injected in your lips and around your mouth.

Tummy Tuck

What is a tummy tuck?

Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin and, in most cases, restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer.

A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals.

Even individuals of otherwise normal body weight and proportion can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging. The most common causes of this include:

  • Aging
  • Heredity
  • Pregnancy
  • Prior surgery
  • Significant fluctuations in weight

What a tummy tuck won’t do:

A tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program.

Although the results of a tummy tuck are technically permanent, the positive outcome can be greatly diminished by significant fluctuations in your weight. For this reason, individuals who are planning substantial weight loss or women who may be considering future pregnancies would be advised to postpone a tummy tuck.

A tummy tuck cannot correct stretch marks, although these may be removed or somewhat improved if they are located on the areas of excess skin that will be excised.

Tummy tuck candidates

In general, you may be a good tummy tuck candidate if:

  • You are physically healthy and at a stable weight
  • You have realistic expectations
  • You are a non-smoker
  • You are bothered by the appearance of your abdomen

Tummy tuck surgery is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image.

Tummy tuck procedure steps

A tummy tuck procedure includes the following steps:

Step 1 – Anesthesia

Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedures. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.

Step 2 – The incision

A full tummy tuck requires a horizontally-oriented incision in the area between the pubic hairline and belly button.

The shape and length of the incision will be determined by the amount of excess skin. Once the abdominal skin is lifted, the underlying weakened abdominal muscles are repaired.

A second incision around the navel may be necessary to remove excess skin in the upper abdomen.

The upper abdominal skin is pulled down like a window shade. The excess skin is trimmed, and the remaining skin is sutured together. A new opening for the belly button is created. The belly button is popped through to the surface and sutured into position.

Step 3 – Closing the incisions

Sutures, skin adhesives, tapes or clips close the skin incisions.

Step 4 – See the results

Your tummy tuck will result in a flatter, firmer abdominal contour that is more proportionate with your body type and weight.

Tummy tuck recovery

During your tummy tuck recovery, dressings or bandages may be applied to your incisions, and you may be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a compression garment to minimize swelling and support your abdomen as it heals following surgery.

Small, thin tubes may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect.

You will be given specific instructions that may include:

  • How to care for the surgical site and drains
  • Medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection
  • Specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health
  • When to follow up with your plastic surgeon

Be sure to ask your tummy tuck surgeon specific questions about what you can expect during your individual recovery period:

  • Where will I be taken after my surgery is complete?
  • What medication will I be given or prescribed after surgery?
  • Will I have dressings/bandages after surgery? When will they be removed?
  • When will the stitches be removed?
  • How will I bathe?
  • How long will I wear the pressure garment?
  • When can I resume normal activity and exercise?
  • When do I return for follow-up care?

Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the eyelids.

Surgery can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids or both.

This surgery is usually done for cosmetic reasons. It’s also an effective way to improve sight in older people whose sagging upper eyelids get in the way of their vision.

An eye lift will not eliminate dark circles under the eyes, crow’s feet, or other facial wrinkles. It is often done along with other procedures such as laser resurfacing, filler injections, or forehead lifts.

Whether you want to improve your appearance or are experiencing functional problems with your eyelids, eyelid surgery can rejuvenate the area surrounding your eyes.

The Eyelid Aging Process

As skin ages, it gradually loses its elasticity. A lack of elasticity plus the constant pull from gravity causes excessive skin to collect on the upper and lower eyelids.

Excess skin on the lower eyelid causes wrinkles and bulges. On the upper eyelids, an extra fold of skin can hang over the eyelashes and get in the way of seeing.

What eyelid surgery can treat

  • Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision
  • Fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the eyelids
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Drooping lower eyelids that reveal white below the iris

Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid

Liposuction

What is liposuction?

Liposuction reshapes and slims targeted areas of the body by removing fat, improving overall body proportion and contours.

 Types of Liposuction:

  • Smart Lipo
  • Laser Lipo
  • Vaser Hi Definition Lipo (muscle etching)
  • Cool Sculpting (non-invasive)

Liposuction techniques can be performed on the following areas:

  • Cheeks, chin and neck
  • Chest area
  • Abdomen and waist
  • Hips and buttocks
  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Thighs
  • Inner legs
  • Calves and ankles

Liposuction can be performed on one or several areas, or may be combined with other plastic surgery procedures, such as a tummy tuck, breast reduction or a facelift (for other surgery combinations, please contact our team).

Liposuction candidates

Ideal candidates for liposuction:

  • Healthy individuals who do not have medical conditions that may impair healing
  • Adults within a BMI of 30% who have firm skin with good elasticity and muscle tone
  • Non-smokers
  • Individuals with a realistic outlook in mind for body contouring

If you are bothered by stubborn fat deposits that don’t respond well to diet or exercise, liposuction may be right for you.

Liposuction procedure steps

Liposuction procedures most commonly include the following steps:

Step 1 – Consultation

Our surgeon will meet with you to evaluate your eligibility for your requested surgery, to discuss your goals and to advise you on the expected outcome.  You will be required to complete a health questionnaire which will be reviewed during your consultation. It is very important to understand all aspects of your liposuction procedure, so be sure to ask questions. It is natural to feel some anxiety and preoperative stress and our team will make every effort to put your mind at ease.

Step 2 – Hospital admission & Surgery prep

On the morning of your surgery, you will be admitted to the hospital and our surgeons will go over your health questionnaire, take your vital signs and do a full blood panel to ensure you have no conditions barring you from surgery. The surgeon will come and mark the areas that will be treated and photographs will be taken.

Step 3 – Anesthesia

Once you have been cleared for surgery, medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include local anesthesia, intravenous sedation, and general anesthesia. Our surgeons will recommend the best choice for you.

Step 4 – The incision

Our surgeons will take great care in making tiny, inconspicuous incisions in specific areas as required for the area(s) being treated.

Step 5 – Dislodging fat

A cocktail of tumescent fluid will be injected into the areas being treated via the incisions, to reduce bruising, bleeding and trauma. Then a thin suction tube or ultrasonic vibration probe will be inserted through the incisions to dislodge or emulsify excess fat using a controlled back and forth motion.

Step 6 – Fat suctioning

The liquified fat will then be extracted out of the body using the suction tube or syringe attached to the cannula or probe.

Step 7 – Post Surgery

Immediately following your liposuction procedure, our surgeons will fit you with a compression garment(s) and you will be taken to the recovery ward for about two hours prior to being moved back in your room. On staff doctors and nurses will monitor you overnight and once cleared by our surgeon, you will be released the following afternoon and accompanied back to your hotel.

Step 8 –  You will see our surgeon the following day and up to 3 follow up visits post surgery.  You will continue to wear the compression garment(s) for up to 6 weeks.

Improved body contour will be noticeable once the swelling and fluid retention (commonly experienced following liposuction) subside. Your skin will retract, leaving a smooth natural looking appearance.

*All of our Liposuction procedures are performed in an accredited, licensed ambulatory, surgical hospital facility.
